The 3x3 Pro Show has awarded two Bronze Medals in the Editorial category to Tatsuro Kiuchi. His entries had more than a majority of the judges' votes as well as one or more judges listing them as their favorites. The two entries are "Traveling with Four-legged Friends" and "Golf Orphans." "Traveling" was a rejected sketch for a New York Times article since it was similar to another illustration they had used in the past, but was published by Kadokawa in Japan as a magazine cover. The final New York Times piece was of a cat in a suitcase, also selected for the 3x3 annual. "Golf Orphans" was from a Golf for Women article about parents who are always golfing on the weekends, so the only chance the daughters have to see them is when they are at the pool near the golf course. Tatsuro also had five images selected from the Starbucks "Pass the Cheer" advertising campaign.
Greg Clarke had the cover of the New York Times Book Review chosen. Miguel Gallardo had entries selected from three different categories: the cover of Maria and Me, illustrations from Java Junkie, and "Anger" published by Magazine-La Vanguardia. Images from Get Ready: The Los Angeles Earthquake Sourcebook by Paul Rogers were honored in the book series category.
Heflinreps congratulates all our artists whose illustrations were selected for the annual. There were over 4,000 entries, with only 200 images selected by the judges.
