Artist Paul Rogers Pitches Ideas for Illustrations

Recently, the Los Angeles Times ran a few sketchbook drawings that Paul Rogers sent to them about the transformation of his Pasadena neighborhood during the holiday season leading up to the Rose Parade. Paul says that a village of activity springs up as bleachers and TV towers loom over the homes along Orange Grove Boulevard. Homeowners line their front yards with folding chairs and camping equipment. Thousands of people sleep overnight to get a good spot to watch the parade on New Year's Day, but Paul usually sleeps through the whole thing.

Recent news events also prompted Paul to submit a cover idea to the New Yorker magazine depicting the shoe-throwing incident with former President Bush. I guess it wasn't the "right fit," but we appreciate that Paul has the gumption to go out and propose ideas to clients himself.
